Saving Tips from your Apartments in South Austin

  |     |   Uncategorized

Where do you want to travel to in 2018? It’s not too late to get away from your apartments in South Austin for a week and explore Europe. You’ll have to start saving now, however, if you want to make it work. Lucky for you, saving money is easier than it’s ever been. Technology has advanced to the point where we can let robots pay our bills, set aside savings, and tell us how we can be better at saving money.

As you may have guessed, this week’s post is all about saving money. Whether you’re saving for a European vacation or you just want to have an emergency fund set aside for car repairs, we think you’ll find these tips to be useful. Check out the list of money-saving tips below, and be sure to share the link to this post with your friends and neighbors at CityView at Soco Austin apartments!

Pack your lunch and pocket the money

It’s hard to get motivated to pack your lunch for work everyday. Living in Austin means working near amazing restaurants, and it’s super tempting to add some excitement to your workday by going out to eat every day. One way to motivate yourself, however, is to pocket the cash that you save everyday. Take the $8-$10 that you save and put it in a jar on top of your refrigerator. You’ll be able to watch the money grow, and it will be easier to pack your lunch so you can add more cash to your har.

Automate both spending and saving

Paying your bills on time is one of the biggest ways to save money. There’s nothing worse than having to waste money by paying a late fee, or to having to pay extra interest fees because you didn’t pay your bill on time. You can avoid those problems by automating your bill payments, and some companies will even give you discounts for using automatic payments.

As for savings, you should be automatically moving money from checking to savings every time you get paid. You should also consider taking advantage of apps like Digit and Acorns that take small amounts of money out of your checking account every week. You won’t notice the money being gone, but you will see a lot of extra money in your Digit or Acorns account when you decide to check.

Consider switching bank accounts

Remember how cool it was when you first signed up for your bank account? If you took advantage of special offers, you probably got a bunch of free money. The same goes for opening up new credit cards. Look around to see if there are any awesome offers from banks that are different from your own, and consider making the switch if they’ll give you some extra cash.
