In this week’s blog post, we’ll be talking about some tried and true guidelines for decorating your apartment home. Decorating an apartment is all about maximizing space, and we’re going to help you do just that! Whether you just moved into your first post-grad apartment or you’ve moved back into an apartment after years of living in a home, the tips in this week’s blog will help you figure out how to decorate your new space. Without further ado, let’s take a look at the list of tips below! When you’re done reading the latest post from CityView, please be sure to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at your community of apartments in South Austin!
Make Use of Mirrors
If you’re living in an apartment, you should never meet a mirror that you don’t like. Mirrors add a lot of depth to a room, and they spread light around to corners that might not otherwise receive much natural light. If you want your space to seem a little bigger than it actually is, invest in a couple mirrors. You don’t have to always go with the rectangular mirrors, either. Try grabbing a bunch of small mirrors and arranging them creatively on your wall for a unique look!
Keep it Bright
It’s a simple fact that brighter rooms look bigger than dark ones. It may be tempting to turn your apartment into a cozy little cave, but you’re going to feel very cramped if you do that. Instead, make it a household rule that you’ll only buy brightly colored furniture, blankets and throw pillows. The light colors, along with a little natural light, will really open up your living space.
Consider Glass Tables
Of all the tricks that you can use to make your space seem more spacious, perhaps none are more tricky than buying glass coffee tables, end tables and entertainment stands. These delicate pieces of furniture don’t block sightlines, which means you and your guests will be able to see all the space in your apartment! The only downside to these pieces (besides the fact that you might break one if you’re not careful) is that you have to clean then more often than you’d clean regular pieces of furniture. Clean glass looks great, but dirty glass won’t do anything good for the look of your apartment.
